"HOT MESS", 2018

Today's youth are told that we are greedy, entitled, materialistic and often unnecessarily nostalgic. In a world where asking "why" and saying "no" without having to explain ourselves demonizes an entire generation, these artists are questioning the antics of being a 20-something in the 21st century. By discussing topics ranging from consumption, loss, solidarity, and escapism, to environmental destruction, and societal relationships among humans and beyond, light-heartedness versus melancholic ideology is represented with a new exuberant twist. 

This exhibition, presented by the 2018 graduating BFA Photographers, is a visual depiction of our changing quality of life - collectively a paradigm of diversified views coming from those who think in color and live with vigorous purpose. (Group Statement)
