"DRCW / Meltdown", 2019

Dallas Art Fair 2019, Liliana Bloch Gallery, Booth C3, FIG Gallery, Dallas, TX

DRCW / Meltdown is a wallpaper installation depicting the gradual meltdown of a dining room chair. The chair motif is based on an actual chair that has been in my family for several generations. Like photographs in which it appears, the chair itself is a saved artifact and index to the past. DRCW / Meltdown speaks to the erosion of personal, societal, and political traditions.

My art making constitutes a career-long investigation into the ontology of photography. Freely moving between photography, sculpture, and installation, my projects are based on narratives about current or past events, and often include familiar objects from my home or studio, such as chairs, tables, clothing, and snapshots. All of my projects constitute an ongoing exploration of photographic indexicality, the archive, and the frame.
