"M-TRAIN", 1995

Installation at Lawndale Art Center, Houston TX

"M-TRAIN" is a slide projection installation onto the wall of a darkened space. Overlapping images from four slide projectors run continuously, as does an accompanying recording of train sounds. Viewers enter the space, sit for a time in rocking chairs, and leave at will. Imagery includes photographs taken from a moving train, early 20th century family photographs, and textual passages dealing with the psychology of memory. This autobiographical piece evokes a sense of place and history.
