Liliana Bloch Gallery, Dallas, TX
"Octave Studies" is a new series of silkscreen prints and sculptures, in which I examine ideas of indexicality, the archive, and the frame through personal narratives. Printed on a variety of overlapping surfaces, including cardboard, vintage sheet music, and linen fabrics, the screenprints are pinned to the wall like specimens. Images of my mother and a special dining room chair float through the series as fragments of an ongoing story. Several sculpural "unmonuments" punctuate the wall installation and create a three-dimensional counterpoint to the musical flow of the prints. |
